Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa
Alvin Yapan
Study
Poetry was used in the opening of the film as Karen (Jean Garcia) read it to her class. It made use of dancing as the main form of communicating among the three main characters; Karen, Marlon (Rocco Nacino), and Dennis (Paulo Avelino).
The use of the Panay Epic Humandapnon also showed that the film was about the Filipino heritage. It is an independent film which used the feminism theory.
Analyze
The film was notable for its use of silence. It resides on non-verbal communication through dancing as an art. Jean Garcia's acting was very impressive that the feminist agenda to conceive romance from the politics of gender and preference. Longing was emphasized as Marlon longs for Karen and Dennis longs for Marlon regardless of sexual preference. Yapan expanded the feminist roots into interpretations that encompass emotions of the males. The only character who is separated fro the young lovers was Karen.
Interpretation
In the present time, many relationships involving the same sex already exists. People strongly disagree i this type of relationship and it is one of the topics which interests the public, many film writers make use of it as a concept. It is hard to tell and perhaps, we still do not have any right to judge those people who were involved in such relationship.
